Students of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy learn about the vision of Mariupol's reconstruction

As part of the Community Recovery Academy educational project, students of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy got acquainted with the vision of Mariupol's reconstruction. The document was presented by Deputy Mayor of Mariupol Serhiy Zakharov.
The project has now scaled up. Now the municipality of Mariupol is sharing its expertise with other communities in Ukraine as part of the Community Recovery School project. It was founded by the Association of Ukrainian Cities and the NGO Mariupol.Reborn. The goal is to train municipal managers for the recovery period.
Representatives of the Mariupol municipality visited the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. During the lecture, they presented the vision of Mariupol to the students. The vision was developed on the basis of workshops with Mariupol residents as part of the initiative “I am Mariupol: I must live.” For more than a year, the team of Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko has been working on a plan to restore the city after de-occupation - Mariupol Reborn. The main basis of the vision was the thoughts and ideas of Mariupol residents themselves. Mayor Vadym Boichenko's team also gathered unique knowledge about how to rebuild their community. To do this, they studied the experience both abroad and in Ukraine.
The lecture was held as part of the School of Community Renewal educational project. Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is a reliable partner of the project.
This was an assessment of our work. We are very grateful to the teachers, very grateful to the students and masters. By the way, the teachers attended our workshop. We are grateful for the assessment and the questions they asked us. This workshop was very lively and it is very important for us, for our Mariupol community.
Students of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy study urbanization and spatial planning. The lecture was extremely useful for future professionals, the university says.
It is mandatory to present this as a case study in our term papers, master's and bachelor's theses. Students need it first and foremost. After all, they are majoring in Public Administration and Management. And they are future civil servants, officials in local governments. They have the disciplines of Transitional Justice and Reintegration, Territorial Organization and Design. This is exactly one of the disciplines that will help them to restore and revive our cities later
The university and the city team continue to cooperate to prepare future specialists for the postwar reconstruction of Ukrainian cities.
